Dr. and Mrs. Dettmer live in Wheaton, Illinois, and have two adult children, Adam and Alexis.

Dr. Dettmer’s son, Adam, graduated from The College of William & Mary in 2006 summa cum laude with a degree in Finance. He is employed by Deloitte as a Senior Analyst and serves in their Financial Advisory Services practice in Washington, DC.   He has recently been awarded the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) post-nominal, considered by many to be one of the most respected designations in finance and the gold standard in the field of investment analysis.   He lives in Arlington, Virginia with a college classmate and enjoys his free time with friends following sports of all types. He remains an avid Cubs and Bears fan…sadly!

The Dettmer’s daughter, Alexis, graduated from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana with Honors in May 2010. She was accepted into the Graduate Program for Speech Language Pathology and is on track to complete her Master’s Degree in August of 2012.  Alexis played on the U of I women’s Ultimate Frisbee team for 4 years and is now helping with coaching the underclass players.

Dr. Dettmer spends his free time gardening, riding his bike, doing volunteer dentistry at the DuPage Community Clinic and building homes with the DuPage affiliate of Habitat For Humanity where he is a member of the Construction Committee.

Mrs. Dettmer worked for 11 years in District 200 as an elementary level school teacher and then for 15 years at First Presbyterian Church in Wheaton teaching in the 3 year old pre-school program.  She spends her leisure time with book club, bible study, time with her 2 younger sisters and her mother, and searching for “treasures” in almost every antique shop and mall she passes!
