Dr. Dettmer practices general dentistry with an emphasis on prevention, cosmetics, and rehabilitative dentistry. He believes that the foundation of all dental success is a strong commitment to home care and preventive maintenance. To that end he sees that all of his patients are educated in dental prevention, understand the causative factors in dental disease and are trained in the skills necessary to keep their mouths disease free.
Even under ideal conditions dentistry needs to be renewed. Even the finest automobile has a life expectancy and will eventually require replacement. Dentistry is no different. Fillings, crowns, bridges and bonded restorations all wear out eventually and will require replacement. Dr. Dettmer’s goal is to make sure that the supporting structures; the gum tissue, bone and the teeth themselves never wear out! He gains great satisfaction from restoring mouths to ideal health and function. There is no greater pleasure for a dentist than to see a smile restored!
Dr. Dettmer also spends a great deal of his time doing “smile enhancements“. These, mainly cosmetic services, are available to anyone who is unhappy with any part of their smile. Sometimes simply reshaping some front teeth or masking a discoloration can make a dramatic change in a person’s smile. Other times a combination of tooth straightening, whitening, and bonding is required to bring the smile back to brilliance.
