As many of you know Dr. Dettmer is “handy” around the house and, in fact, has taken his tools “on the road”.  After remodeling his own and his sister-in-laws bathrooms and replacing every lineal foot of trim in his own home he found himself in need of a new project.  And so it was that last Fall he joined the DuPage affiliate of Habitat For Humanity as a Construction Committee volunteer.  Over the past year he has spent many of his off days  working with Habitat and leading groups of volunteers on the job site.  On Sunday,  November 21 he was asked to speak at the dedication of a completed home in West Chicago.

Each August, Dr. Dettmer provides lunch for the golfers, volunteers and Park District staffers who participate in the annual Cosley Golf       Classic held at Arrowhead Golf Course. The Cosley Classic continues to be a great fun-filled day in the park! For the 2010 event Drs. Dettmer and Bauer were joined by patients Jerry Nichilo, Dick Day, John Uniwitz and colleague, friend and major league “funnyman”, Dr. Monty Abbott.    For more information abaout the Cosley Classic call the Wheaton Park District. If you play to a 5 or less please contact Dr. Dettmer about a  ”full scholarship” for next year! Dr. Dettmer is pursuing his interest in food and wine and has joined the staff at Suzette’s Creparie on a part-time basis working with Anton, the wine professional at Suzette’s. While he has no intention of leaving his dental practice anytime soon, the word is that Dr. Dettmer is having “a blast” dabbling in the hospitality industry. Hey! Wait a minute. Isn’t that the industry he’s already involved in???
